Success story IFT

Robust Data Governance ecosystem and launch of its Knowledge Marketplace

The Federal Telecommunications Institute of Mexico (IFT) I had a clear challenge: transform the access and management of your data and information assets, starting practically from scratch. With no previous governance structures, no centralised catalogue or control flows, the need was urgent: establish a comprehensive solution that would bring order, agility and confidence to the data.

However, the IFT was not content with building a traditional Data Marketplace. It took a qualitative leap forward by committing to the creation of its own Knowledge Marketplace, a dynamic space where organisational knowledge — not just data — becomes an accessible, governed and reusable strategic asset. Thanks to the Anjana Data platform and flawless execution in record time, the IFT has achieved in 10 weeks What takes other organisations years to achieve: structuring their information ecosystem and starting to generate value from the outset.

Why a Knowledge Marketplace?

The Knowledge Marketplace represents the natural evolution of the Data Marketplace. It is no longer just about offering data, but about connecting that data with its context, meaning, terms of use y application cases. The IFT understands that the real value of data lies not in its availability, but in its usability within a shared knowledge framework, where all users—from technical profiles to business decision-makers—can discover, understand, and use information autonomously, traceably, and securely. This vision is fully aligned with Anjana Data's approach: a platform designed not only to govern data, but to activate organisational knowledge in all its dimensions.

Implemented solution

Anjana Data's deployment at the IFT focused on three strategic pillars:

  •  Intelligent and semantic catalogue: More than 130 data and information assets (tables, views, reports) were documented, enriched with metadata, tags, and classifiers that enable agile and accurate discovery.
  •  Centralised business glossary: A common dictionary was developed between IT and business, facilitating cross-functional understanding and eliminating barriers between technical language and operational language.
  • Automated governance flows: Roles, responsibilities, and workflows were defined to manage the asset lifecycle, ensuring traceability, compliance, and access control.

These elements form the functional basis of the Knowledge Marketplace, which now allows the IFT to display data, reports, and visualisations within a fully self-managed and governed e-commerce-style experience.

Benefits obtained

The transformation has been profound, both operationally and culturally. Among the most notable benefits are:

  •  Data sovereignty: Owners decide with whom to share information and under what conditions, through Data Sharing Agreements managed from the platform.
  •  Trust in data and informationThanks to the semantic catalogue, users can find what they need and understand it without relying on technical intermediaries.
  •  Democratisation of knowledge: The barrier to accessing information has been reduced, without compromising control or security, activating the value of data throughout the organisation.
  •  Immediate impact: By the end of the project, there were already use cases in production, demonstrating that the model not only works, but that generates value from day one.

Challenges overcome

The road was not without challenges. During implementation, technological obstacles (compatibility, latency), architectural obstacles (integration with LDAP and SQL Server), cultural obstacles (user adoption) and bureaucratic obstacles (alignment of multiple areas) were faced and overcome.

The key to success lay in a agile and empowered project management, where the IFT assigned a Project Manager with the ability to resolve issues, allowing progress to be made smoothly and with quick decisions.

Furthermore, the experience of Management Solutions As a certified implementer at Anjana Data, it was essential to overcome technical challenges and accelerate adoption.

An evolving project

This success story does not end here. The IFT Knowledge Marketplace is a living project that will evolve throughout 2025, with new sources, integrations, and functionalities. The goal: to continue democratising access to knowledge and consolidate a mature and sustainable data-driven organisational culture.

The Federal Telecommunications Institute has demonstrated that, with vision, leadership and the right technology, it is possible to go from 0 to 200 in knowledge management. In just 10 weeks, it has built the foundations of a smarter, more connected organisation that is aligned with the strategic value of data.

This case not only represents a milestone for the IFT, but also a replicable example for any public or private organisation that wants to make knowledge its competitive advantage.
