Anjana Data and Santander Group offer the keys to achieving success in the Single Data Marketplace at the 2021 Data Management Summit

The first international edition of the Data Management Summit brings together more than 200 professionals, focusing on new challenges in data management. DMS 2021 is a exclusive event for professionals and experts in the data community in which there is more talk of business solutions than of technological platforms.

Mario de Francisco Ruiz, Chief Executive Officer of Anjana Data, participated in the round table discussion ‘Data Governance: The Core of Data Management’, and highlighted the importance of Data Governance as the core of data management and the need for organisations to implement data governance in order to become data-driven.

Other participants in the round table discussion were Gonzalo White (Senior Business Consultant, Risk Data Quality (ABN Amro), Jason Hare (Data Governance and Information Security Governance Principal, CDMP®, CIP®, CSAP®, ITIL®), Mike Meriton (Co-Founder & Chief Operating Officer – EDM Council), Stefano Miro (Co-Founder and Sales Manager at About Data Governance), Neah Mangal (Head of Enterprise Data Governance at A.P. Moller Maersk) and Robert S. Seiner, author of the book ‘Non-Invasive Data Governance: The Path of Least Resistance’, as moderator.

During the conversation, the focus has been on why the formal implementation of the practice of Data Governance is vital for achieving effective and efficient data management in an organisation, and the differences between Data Governance y Data Management. On the other hand, there has been debate about the main challenges posed by the implementation of Data Governance in an organisation and the need to adapt Data Governance to the culture of the organisation. Finally, the participants in the round table discussion provided some key insights on how to measure both the correct implementation and the impact of a Data Governance programme.

In the words of Mario de Francisco, «The most complicated aspect of implementing data governance is convincing all stakeholders and participants that data governance will make things easier and more agile in relation to data processing and use, contrary to what the vast majority normally think.»

Another key point of the first day was the conference from Alicia Jimeno Galán, Head of Data Governance at CTO Global, Santander Group, who has participated in our Case Story slot with his lecture Data MarketPlace: the new approach to Data Governance’.

During his presentation, Alicia Jimeno has put focus on the keys to Santander Group's success in the Single Data Marketplace. In this regard, he highlighted the need for a data catalogue based on centralised metadata management, a broad understanding of data classification and organisation within the organisation, and multidisciplinary teams of data experts. All of this must be accompanied by technological solutions such as Anjana Data, which provide the necessary tools to support the organisation and its stakeholders through the change process.

Anjana Data is the data governance solution for the Big Data, Multi Cloud and Data-driven era that helps organisations operationalise their data strategies thanks to the implementation of proactive and preventive data governance

Anjana Data launches its Official Certification  with the aim of helping organisations on their path towards effective and efficient data governance; providing the tools to be a solution for data management within organisations, and not just a technological platform.
